Meet Your Energy Advisor : Kent Hoh

Solar can be complicated – that’s why Solar Era has a team of Energy Advisors here to help answer any and all of your solar questions. One of our expert advisors is Kent: we sat down with him to learn more about his time at Solar Era and hear some inside tips for people shopping for solar today.

What’s a common solar myth you hear from people looking into solar?

A lot of people believe that solar panels will continue working during a power outage; however, if the grid goes down, most solar panel systems shut off. To keep your home running during a power outage, you need to pair your solar panel system with a battery.

If you could give only one piece of advice to solar shoppers, what would it be?

Solar is a great investment for many homeowners, but it can be a difficult one to navigate on your own. That’s where Solar Era comes in – our advisor team is here to help you sort through your solar options and answer questions about solar equipment, financing, and more, all at no cost to you. Book a call with us!

Why do you enjoy working in the solar industry?

Every time I help get a project to the roof, I’ve saved someone money and helped reduce carbon emissions on the grid… it’s a sense of guilt-free success.

What’s your favorite part about working at Solar Era?

We have a small dedicated team that has really made an impact on the industry. I love being able to contribute to our mission!

Are there any upcoming trends or changes to the solar industry that you’re excited about?

As the total capacity of renewable, intermittent energy in the Singapore Power Grid expands, so does the need for reliable energy storage. I think the next few years will bring a lot of exciting trends in technology and policies to advance the energy storage industry.

Do you have a favorite solar joke?

Do you believe in global warming? It’d be a lot cooler if you did…
